Downlands House is an elegantly-appointed Victorian town house located on a quiet, tree-lined residential street approximately a mile from Bristol's City Centre. Rooms

There are a total of ten airy and welcoming rooms available at Downlands House, including single, twin and double bedded rooms, most of which come with en suite facilities. On the ground floor there is a large double room with bath & shower. Each room is comfortably furnished and houses a colour TV, hairdryer and free WiFi as well as tea and coffee making facilities.

Attractions

Bristol is an exciting and dynamic city, offering a wide variety of sights for visitors and much in the way of sports and entertainment, with theatres, art galleries, (including Royal West of England Academy of Arts), museums, cinemas and a wide selection of good restaurants. The harbourside area has undergone exciting developments and features an exciting and interactive science centre At-Bristol. Bristol is also host to various special events throughout the year, such as the Bristol Regattas and the Balloon Fiesta.

Prominent sights of Bristol include Brunel's famous Suspension Bridge and the SS Great Britain, as well as shopping centres Cabot Circus (which boasts a Harvey Nichols store and array of eateries, including Raymond Blancs Brasserie Blanc Restaurant ) and Cribbs Causeway. Downlands House is also convenient for visitors wishing to visit events at Bristol Rugby Club, Bristol Rovers Football Club and Gloucestershire County Cricket ground.

Nearby Clifton Village, an attractive area for shopping and socializing, boasts some of Bristol's most splendid Georgian and Regency Terraces. From here you can take a trip to the Bristol Zoo Gardens, famous for their flora and fauna, or enjoy the recently renovated Lido Spa.

In the other direction, and in walking distance of Downlands House is the attractive village of Westbury-on-Trym, one of Bristol's most appealing suburbs, which lays claim to a variety of independent shops, cafes and the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Bristol: Casamia. Close by, Henleaze provides further convenient amenities, including a cinema, local shops and Old Quarry Park.

From Downlands House you can stroll the nearby Downs which comprises over 400 acres of trees and open grassland, or visit the University of Bristol Botanic Garden. On the other side of this delightful green space lies Blaise Castle House Museum and Estate, which is well worth a visit.

Travelling by car

From M5 Exit via Junction 17 towards Westbury-on-Trym & City Centre. Prior to reaching the Downs you will pass private girls schools (The Badminton School on your left & The Red Maid's School on your right) on both sides of the road. Henleaze Gardens is on the left hand side.

From M4 Leave at Junction 19, taking the M32 southbound and exit immediately at the first junction, turn right at roundabout (A4174 - signposted Filton). Proceed for approximately 2 miles straight across roundabouts until the 5th roundabout when you turn left into Henleaze Road, continue for 3/4 mile and turn right into Henleaze Gardens.

Travelling by Public Transport

Downlands house is 3 miles from Bristol Temple Meads train station and 8 miles from Bristol airport.
